Endangered plant

Found this plant growing on the side of the road while volunteering with Montana Conservation Corps. in the summer of 2012 culling sage brush encroaching on the sand dunes in the general area of yellowstone. (can't remember the specific place) Our guide pointed this plant out and said it was threatened by sagebrush encroachment because it needs loose sandy soil to grow.
